UFC 214: Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones 2 Main Event Preview

Cormier may not like Jones, but he’s man enough to admit defeat the last time they stepped into the Octagon together.

It can be argued that UFC 202’s rematch featuring Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz had more hype surrounding the fight, but Daniel Cormier vs. Jones II has taken bad blood to a whole new level.

Jones says the heat, which peaked in 2014 when a faceoff turned into a full-scale brawl with bodies tumbling off the stage, is a result of the competition.

“I don’t really like you, Luke, so I’m not going to answer your question”.

Here’s a surprise: Cormier and Jones talk a lot of trash to one another.

UFC 214 IS HANDS DOWN one of the most anticipated cards in recent history.

KO queen Cris Cyborg fights Tonya Evinger for the vacant women’s featherweight strap while fearsome welterweight Robbie Lawler goes to war against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in what should be a cracking contest.

Cormier arrived with just five minutes remaining. There will be no trilogy.

“The first time I watched it, I was uncomfortable with it, because it showed me talking in 2011 and saying how I would never want to do something that would harm the image of the sport”, Jones said. “And it’s caused him to lash out at me on a personal level”.

Daniel himself, meanwhile, has been speaking to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani about his grudge against Jones.

Jones looks like a potential cross over star for the UFC and he has long talked about moving up to the heavyweight division.

A rematch was scheduled for UFC 200 but Jones tested positive for banned substances and was removed from the fight.

Cormier insists it will ultimately be him, not Jones, that gets to write the final chapter of this particular narrative. “He doesn’t want to see me win”.

This hurt Cormier more than the actual loss as it reminded him of his Olympic failure. It’s going to be a wild night of mixed martial arts action! I think he’s a f*cking great guy.

Interestingly, Jones then chose to go topless for the staredown. The event’s main event was subsequently cancelled in disastrous fashion, leaving Dana White furious and fans wondering if they would ever get the chance to see these two foes throw down again. Fans and pundits are aware that DC has not gotten into legal trouble, but the reason they jeer him and not Jones is simply because the latter has been on a run of dominance that spans almost a decade. “It’s definitely gonna be a good opportunity to prove I’m up here where I need to be”. “He just so happened to come into this sport and he’s 39-years-old and is f–ing with a guy who’s in his prime, a guy who honestly believes this is his era and does everything in his power to make it his era”.

This weekend, Cormier will step into the Octagon for undoubtedly the biggest fight of his career when he faces Jon Jones for a second time.
