Srikanth, who finished at the pre-quarterfinals in the last two editions, has a 4-4 head-to-head record against Son, whom he has beaten twice this year en route to his titles at Indonesia and Australia in June. I gave her (Okuhara) a tough time and maybe I could have won, but it was not my day. Even though I had the lead, I didn’t want to give away any point.
PV SINDHU keeps the hopes of a gold or silver medal alive as she reaches the finals of World Badminton Championships beating Chen Yufei in straight games 21-13, 21-10.
Playing big tournaments has never fazed Sindhu.
The Olympic bronze medallist advanced to the semi-final when she staved off the challenge from local favourite Kristy Gilmour to assure herself of at least a bronze. A year later, the world number four has once again proved it with a near-perfect run in Glasgow.
“I lost to her (Sun) the last time we played in Dubai”, said Sindhu, who displayed sublime skills at the net, an area she has improved on.
Nehwal created history in 2015 by becoming the first Indian to reach the final of World Badminton Championships.
Sindhu will go for her shots but she will need to stay patient against Okuhara.
Saina kept pace with her younger and sharper opponent but she got exhausted towards the end.
The match between PV Sindhu and Nozomi Okuhara will be broadcast live on television on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports HD 1.
Malaysia: TV: Astro Supersport. Earlier on day 6 of the World Badminton Championship, Saina Nehwal lost her battle in a 3-set encounter against Nozomi Okuhara.
En route to quarter-finals, the ace-Indian shuttler produced a rich vein of form to sweep aside 14th seed Antosen 21-14, 21-18 in the third-round clash.
Sun Yu tried delaying the inevitable but Sindhu eventually sealed the match 21-9 to march into the semi-finals. Sindhu wins one to level 13-13 after Okuhara has taken two points in a row.
PV Sindhu, Nozomi Okuhara, Lin Dan and Viktor Axelsen will be in action in the final.
Saina Nehwal moved brilliantly on the court.
In the men’s singles, eighth seed Srikanth registered a 21-14, 21-18 win over Danish 14th seed Anders Antonsen.

Sindhu now has a world rank of 4 but she has been ranked as high as world No 2. She bowed out in the group stages of the competition there, a huge disappointment for the Indian badminton fans.
