The 29-year-old picked up three wickets in 13 balls including the prized scalp of India captain Virat Kohli who was out for a duck to a sensational one-handed catch from Maxwell.

Marcus Stoinis picked up the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Kedar Jadhav back to end the 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

With India tottering at 87/5, it all depended on the last recognised batting duo of Dhoni and Pandya, who got their act together to deliver the needed stability.

WICKET! Nothing is going India’s way.

Dhoni’s innings was one of the turning points of the match. Change of pace does the trick for Stoinis as Jadhav fails to read his short ball.

Hardik Pandya is a finisher for the team India. The only time MS Dhoni could have been in trouble was when Jadhav refused a run when he was nearly halfway down the pitch.

“160 with one new ball would have made things easier”. MS Dhoni, in at no.6 is welcomed in style.

The India captain also complemented his bowlers for restricting Australia after the visitors were set a revised target of 164 off 21 overs in the rain-curtailed match. Dream spell by Coulter-Nile this.

Australian batting order got off to a disgusting start as well. India in deep trouble. Having Ajinkya Rahane coming down at four isn’t an option for now. The former skipper played 88 balls.

A decent first-up from Pat Cummins.

The opening batsman also said that players have to make most of the time given to them. Nathan Coulter-Nile up for the next over. India has won the toss and elected bat first.

A very big clash is on the cards when ambitious India take on the present World Champions Australia on Sunday (September 17) in the five-match one-day worldwide series-opener in Chennai. Dhoni had not been dismissed across four ODIs and the lone T20 global during the Sri Lanka tour.

“That being said, India know exactly what they are capable of doing”.

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav also joined the party after getting star opener David Warner caught behind for 25 as Australia’s innings fell apart. Rain is the obvious factors which will affect the both team India and Australia anyway at the today’s match. Australia Although Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood have come in India and Aaron Finch will not be available due to injury due to some matches. Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar will take care of the spin-bowling department with Maxwell chipping in with a few overs. Does Ajinkya Rahane, who could open in Shikhar Dhawan’s absence, have the ability to match modern scoring standards?
