Cyber security experts have said they expect more staged releases of sensitive information. Along with extortion, victims risk identity theft, as many personal details like addresses and partial credit card information are now available. A university spokesman says, “The university does not monitor the choices that our alumni, employees, and students make in their private lives and is not formally reviewing the information that has been leaked”. The University of Texas isn’t even in Top 10 universities with email accounts registered to the infidelity website.
Other schools include the University of Minnesota with 485, the University of Michigan with 450, and New York University with 438.
Nonetheless, Ledenbach says there is no true privacy on the Internet. It has a site where customers enter an email to see if it was part of the Ashley Madison hack, so if you are a suspicious spouse or an Ashley Madison customer, it can be checked.

Several searchable databases of names, emails and sexual fantasies linked to the 9.7 gigabyte data leak had to shut down within minutes of going live because they could not cope with demand.
