The National Rifle Association, which spearheads America’s powerful gun lobby that has blocked all attempts to tighten gun laws for decades, has relented in the wake of the Las Vegas massacre and asked the government to review the sale of devices that allow weapons to shoot rapidly.

Even the National Rifle Association says “bump stock” devices that allow semi-automatic rifles to perform more like fully automatic weapons should be subject to additional regulations. The National Rifle Association and some lawmakers had been encouraging the firearms agency to re-examine its judgment in 2010 that the devices were legal and not regulated under USA firearms laws.
Stephen Paddock had bump stocks attached to 12 weapons recovered from his hotel room, according to CBS News.
To understand a bump stock, you have to understand the legal definition of a machine gun, explained attorney John Pierce, who’s well-known within the firearms community and focuses on gun rights.
A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-8th District, said he also support restricting bump stocks.
“Bump stocks serve no legitimate goal, and this bill will see to it that these deadly devices are banned in MA”, he said in a statement. But other questions of a technical nature have already been answered and it may require a fresh look at our gun laws.
But Krepps said the fight to ban the devices goes well beyond Washington.

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, whose district includes La Salle County, endorsed the restriction earlier this week in a press statement. “We’ve tried it and it is safe to say that it doesn’t keep people safe”, Mr Chris Cox, executive director at the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, said on Fox News.
“Fully automatic weapons have been banned for a long time”, said US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan in an interview with MSNBC.

The bump fire stocks are illegal in California and manufacturing companies can not ship them here but there are kits online that will convert some semi automatic rifles.
