Titans at Miami Dolphins recap

Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said on Friday that Mariota would be a “game-time decision” for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

“I’ve been able to get out there for a little bit, but the majority of practice I do a lot of rehab”. The Titans (2-2) were relieved Mariota’s injury wasn’t more severe, but they did signed journeyman quarterback Branden Weeden Tuesday.

Parker was forced out of Sunday’s game against the Titans with an ankle injury.

Midway through the second quarter, the Dolphins offense had only 58 yards on 19 plays.

On their first third-quarter possession, the Titans tied the score at 10 on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Cassel to backup tight end Phillip Supernaw, who made an over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone. The Dolphins brought in Jay Cutler as a replacement, and the results have been mixed.

Make no mistake: The Dolphins were glad to come out of their home opener – at last, a true home game in October – with a win and a 2-2 record and the knowledge their defense can put on a remarkably suffocating performance.

The deciding play happened when Cutler hit Jarvis Landry for a fourth quarter touchdown to give Miami a 16-10 lead. Replacement Matt Cassel went 21 for 32 for 141 yards and was sacked six times. Part of me wants to chalk up Miami’s loss in week 3 to their having to travel to London, but the Dolphins haven’t looked good at all this season. Mariota’s potential return is one of the only things worth a smile regarding the Titans’ offense Sunday.

He was signed as insurance at the position with Tennessee uncertain about the status of starter Marcus Mariota with a hamstring injury. A 59-yard touchdown reception by Delanie Walker was negated by a pass interference penalty on Jonnu Smith.

Mariota said he needs to have some mobility in order to be able to play. Facing a possible 1-3 hole and a reeling defense, is this the game where Gase throws his conservatism in the trash and opens things up? Facing a strong run defense and a lackluster pass defense, it will be interesting to see how the run-oriented Titans game plan for tomorrow.

Reshad Jones: he had a career day playing to an ultra high level and capping it off scoring a TD from a loose ball after Kiko Alonso jarred Matt Cassel’s arm when he was in the throwing motion. Cassel was intercepted twice with one returned for a touchdown and stripped of the ball when sacked.
