Newton’s 3 TDs help Panthers beat Lions

In the second quarter with Carolina facing a third-and-1 from its own 34-yard line, Dickson found himself wide open on a bootleg play, caught a pass from Newton and took the ball down to the Detroit 9-yard line.

Carolina Panthers (3-1) travels to Detroit to pick a fight with the Lions ( 3-1) in the NFL Week five play on Sunday at Ford Field. The Panthers’ first drive of the games seemed to display some distraction as Carolina would get three penalties for a total of 30 yards ending the drive with a punt.

This comes after the player apologized for making sexist comments to Charlotte Observer’s Jourdan Rodrigue who asked questions regarding routes and Devin Funchess. He later apologised after losing an endorsement deal and getting criticised by the NFL.

He was 26 of 33 for a season-high 335 yards, 17 of which came on a victory-sealing throw.

With their running game struggling and Stafford unable to find much down the field, most of the Lions’ offensive movement came via short and intermediate passes. Carolina’s final touchdown came on a flawless 31-yard touch pass, where Newton hit Kelvin Benjamin in stride despite tight coverage from Darius Slay. Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to tight end Darren Fells.

Filling in while Pro-Bowl tight end Greg Olsen recovers from a broken foot, Dickson finished with five catches for 175 yards, 39 yards short of the National Football League record for receiving yards in a game by a tight end held by Shannon Sharpe.

If Stafford can continue his confident and calm style of play, the Lions should be able to improve to 4-1 with a home win.

Newton posted his second consecutive 300-yard passing performance, shredding the Lions’ secondary and throwing three touchdowns.

Who: Carolina Panthers vs.

“It was bodies going right in front of me and I had to figure out where the end line was”, Funchess said. “Obviously, it is not what you want to see, but he wasn’t our problem”. “It’s amusing.” Newton declined to provide much of a comment about her absence at the game.

“I’ve been waiting on it since I didn’t get to play here my senior year of high school”.

“I couldn’t feel sorry for myself knowing that certain things took place that were out of my control”, Newton said. “We did what we wanted to do, we always want to outpoint our opponents in that area (Carolina had 28 yards on 28 attempts) and I think we ran the ball better than our opposition did”. The Panthers were 6-10 in those games.

The Lions have a little more time to work on their inconsistent offense before playing Sunday at New Orleans.
