Sessions: US immigration system undermining national security
Kamala Harris and Booker marked their arrival as the two newest – and only second- and third-ever – black members of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee.

Trump ignited furor when he criticized the plan for allowing immigrants from Africa, Haiti and other “shithole” countries.
Appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she stated that she “did not hear” the president use such terms to describe African nations, but did aver that he used “tough language”. After that, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, who had attended the meeting, told reporters that Mr. Trump had used the phrase.
The figures are being used by the administration to justify Trump’s intended end of migration to the US based on extended familial relations, or “chain migration”, as well as the diversity visa lottery system. Apologies, I don’t remember specific words.
Eric W. Dolan has been an editor for Raw Story since August 2010. “I don’t dispute that the president was using tough language”, Nielsen said, adding that several people in the room were using profanity.
Booker, a Democrat floated as a possible 2020 Trump opponent, said he was not satisfied that Nielsen did not recall Trump referring to “s***hole” countries during a meeting about DACA and immigration policy.
Nielsen said Trump was alluding to his conversations with the Norwegian prime minister, explaining that people from the country “work very hard” and that Trump was “giving compliments to Norway”.
He also accused Nielsen of being “complicit” in the president’s comments.
Nielsen: “Strong language? Let’s see there was strong language”. “I sit here right now because when good white people in this country heard bigotry or hatred, they stood up”. “And in defense of Senator Graham, his strong words repeated the exact words used by the president which you can not remember”.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has generally corroborated Durbin’s account. “Others in the room were also using tough language”.
“This report reveals an indisputable sobering reality – our immigration system has undermined our national security and public safety”, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a press statement.
Nielsen bizarrely responded by saying she was unaware of the racial makeup of the Scandinavian country. Trump last week rejected a bipartisan deal to help them during a White House meeting.

President Donald Trump says he wants immigrants to come to the US from “everywhere”, despite having said behind closed doors that he’d prefer more immigrants from countries like Norway and not Africa.
