New iPhone update to show ‘battery health’ following slowdown controversy
The update will bring the total number of Animoji: the feature which maps certain emoji characters to mimic facial expressions thanks to the iPhone X’s Face ID facial mapping technology, up to 16.

Its augmented reality platform will get some updates too, too.
The company hasn’t confirmed an iOS 11.2.6 update which means the update it announced today, iOS 11.3, could be next in line for iOS-powered devices.
ARKit will see improvements with the launch of ARKit 1.5 which can turn posters, signs and artwork into interactive AR experiences. Users will now be able to disable the throttling of their phones by navigating to Settings Battery.
The battery features are the big story, following Apple’s admission late in 2017 that it deliberately slowed iPhones with older batteries (and, after the admission, offered battery replacements).
These animated characters were introduced late previous year and Apple is now bringing more of these animated emojis to life including a dragon, bear, skull and lion.
Of course, the iOS 11.3 update would not be complete without some new Animoji news.
The iOS 11.3 preview also showed the new Business Chat arriving with the forthcoming update.
A preview version of iOS 11.3 is available today to software developers, with a public beta to follow soon.
ARKit will also get a major boost.
Apple unveiled iOS 11.3 Wednesday morning, and it’s loaded with new features.
The information is encrypted and protected by a passcode to prevent general access, Apple said. We have already seen some speed test videos of the new OS against the previous version.
Users will be able to stream all the music videos they want without being interrupted by ads. You can chat with a representative, make an appointment and even make a purchase with Apple Pay.
Basically, the company is introducing a new Privacy icon that will appear when Apple – rather than a malicious third-party – is asking for your login details or other confidential information. Apple Music has struggled to compete with competitor Spotify, and this new focus on music videos may give the service something unique to stand out from the crowd.
“KGI also expects a trio of iPhone models in the fall of 2018”, AppleInsider notes.
Unlike iOS 11.2.5, iOS 11.3 is a milestone upgrade. A new addition to the iOS Health app, Health Records will pull in data from select healthcare services providers to be funneled straight into one place, rather than spread across multiple systems and devices.
With the feature, you can sync all of your messages found on your iPhone across devices such as iPad, Mac, and iPod.

Apple will also introduce battery performance stats in a future iOS 11.3 build.
