“They was running and crying and screaming”, said Mitchell Garland, who owns the cleaning company where the girl took refuge.
Police are at the school processing the scene to make sure all evidence has been collected, he said, before reopening the high school. Mitch McConnell sent staffers.
On the other side of the Capitol, Rep. Attica Scott, D-Louisville, read a list of school shootings in Kentucky, saying that each time the legislature responded by offering its thoughts and prayers.
Among those unfortunately unable to escape were 15-year-olds Bailey Nicole Holt and Preston Ryan Cope, who lost their lives in the tragedy. Twelve of those injured suffered bullet wounds.
As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the information officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center reported the female patient who went to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital on Tuesday night was discharged. According to everytownresearch.org, since 2013, there have been almost 300 school shootings in America – an average of about one a week.
At this point past year, there had been five school shootings nationwide.
His update said a total of 16 people were wounded Tuesday by gunfire, two of them fatally, at Marshall County High School in rural western Kentucky.
School shootings are tragically becoming all too common.
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin said the shooter was also a 15-year-old male student, during a joint news conference with the Kentucky State Police.
The school shooting Tuesday, in Marshall County, Kentucky is something no-one wishes to happen to them.
“I blacked out. I couldn’t move. I was just looking at it and then it registered, and about the time it registered, this guy was setting there pulling trigger on all of us”. I heard someone hit the ground. I see this kid walk up. “I just took off”.
“We just had the 20-year anniversary”.
