Ronda Rousey Joins WWE, Refuses to Confirm UFC Retirement

“This has been a dream of mine since me and all my girlfriends would sit around and watch wrestling together”, Rousey told WWE.com.

“I don’t know if she has ever faced anybody like some of our girls, who are extremely athletic and have insane talent, so I think it would kind of be an awakening for her as well”, Nia Jax recently told The Mirror of London.

While Rousey is clearly thrilled with the way the night unfolded, she admitted post-event that her favorite moment of the night occurred back home, where her husband Travis Browne was watching the pay-per-view with his kids.

Rousey has been a lifelong wrestling fan, and made her first appearance with the WWE back at WrestleMania 31, where she aligned herself with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to lay out Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. She lost last two fights of her career against Amanda Nunes and Holy Holm in 2015-16.

Rousey’s exact involvement in the WWE’s biggest show of the year, though, remains a source of some conjecture.

At just 21 she retired from the sport and entered the world of mixed martial arts, becoming the first female fighter signed with the UFC in 2012. “I’m so happy and I don’t have words for it – and I usually have words for everything; This never happened before”, Rousey added in the interview.

Rousey has made it clear that she loves pro wrestling in the past and even started training for it.

During the annual event, former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey officially announced that she’s taking her talents to the WWE. She was wearing her new WWE signature “Rousey” T-shirt and a black leather jacket that belonged to her namesake “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.

Ronda appeared just after WWE’s Asuka won the Rumble. That would require some creative booking, however-perhaps with Asuka or Rousey winning one of the Women’s Championships before WrestleMania.

Rousey is now under contract with WWE as a full-time performer, and her appearance to close out the show and point directly at the WrestleMania 34 sign hanging above the arena led to some immediate rumors swirling.
