Wax Museum Cracking Down On Lewd Selfies With Nicki Minaj Figure

The provocative statue featured Minaj wearing chains and a bikini and kneeling on both hands and knees – a position taken from a scene of Minaj’s 2014 Anaconda video. First, the world loves photo round-ups of people doing hilarious but inappropriate things with statues.

Madame Tussauds released a statement on Thursday (18th August) in which they apologised for the inappropriate way in which the statue had been used by some of their visitors and announced they would be increasing security around the waxwork.

Nicki Minaj’s wax figure has been molested by several fans who have posted pictures of themselves performing lewd acts next to it inside Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Las Vegas. We do have staff monitoring guest behaviour in the attraction and do our utmost to ensure our wax figures are treated respectfully, but on this occasion clearly one of our hosts was not present.

According to the Madame Tussauds Las Vegas website, the wax figure took almost six months to create by more than 20 artists. The video – and the song itself – have obvious sexual overtones so the museum was taking something of a risk by depicting Minaj in such a position. “It is unfortunate this this visitor made a decision to behave so inappropriately”. “We are taking immediate steps to ensure more staff are present in this area”. “White people yo…” she wrote.

While some fans were thankful for the action, other people though want a total overhaul with many of them criticizing why the museum opted for a depiction of the singer on all fours as their choice for the statue.
