Israeli Police Have Wanted Charges Against Netanyahu For Years

Although it has no impact on the current investigation, with the new law it is now up to the attorney general to ask police to submit their findings in criminal investigations against public figures.

The police said between 2007 and 2016, Netanyahu and his family received expensive cigars, champagne and jewellery worth about a million shekels (approximately $282,800). He has become a strong leader for Israel and, as the New York Times notes, has built a reputation that has made him nearly synonymous with the country itself.

They have also been probing allegations Mr Netanyahu sought a secret deal for favourable coverage with the publisher of top-selling newspaper Yediot Aharonot.

While it is unclear which settlements would come under Israeli law and control, Netanyahu reportedly said in a private meeting that planning alongside the U.S. is important because “the connection with them is a strategic asset for the State of Israel and settlements”.

Former Labour Prime Minister Ehud Barak, a bitter rival of Netanyahu’s, called on him to suspend himself and for the coalition to appoint a successor by Wednesday morning.

In an interview broadcast last Wednesday, Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich claimed “powerful people” have been gathering information about the investigators in Netanyahu’s cases. Police say they have this request on tape, according to the AP.

“He is unworthy to continue to be prime minister of Israel”. The younger Netanyahu ended up spending the night in a luxury Tel Aviv apartment owned by Packer.

He has stressed recently that Israel must retain security control in the Palestinian territories under any peace arrangement. Rrest assured that the proper legal authorities will see these recommendations as baseless.

“It will now go to the attorney general, so it’s far too early to draw any conclusions about the case’s outcome”, Malcolm Hoenline, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, said. Relationships between members of the media and political figures, including politicians, is one of the pillars that a democratic country is based on.

Here’s a fact you probably don’t know: “Over 60 percent of police recommendations are thrown out and never result in indictments”. In what could have an impact on Netanyahu’s ability to remain in office, Israeli police have recommended that the country’s leader, known as Bibi, be charged with fraud, bribery, and breach of public trust. The highly anticipated release was halted on Sunday due to the petition pending a hearing in court.

The decision gives police the green light to submit their recommendations on the PM’s possible indictment to the attorney general.
