Mourners pay respects to late Reverend Billy Graham

I knew better than to ask how it went. He passed away this morning at his home in Montreat, North Carolina.

The Rev. Billy Graham’s funeral service will take place Friday, March 2 at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte. He also mentioned, Graham’s family were students at the university, which prides itself on building champions for Christ.

Former President George H.W. Bush called Graham a “mentor” to several of his children, including his son, former President George W. Bush.

Bostic says, “It was great to see believers from all different denominations come together in the Lowcountry and work together to portray before the world and the rest of our community that unity is so important to Christianity”. We’d impersonate his end-of-the-program altar call.

The Rev. William Barber, president and senior lecturer of Repairers of the Breach, noted Graham’s willingness to challenge notions of racial supremacy that permeated white churches in the American South relatively early in his ministry. And after a few years, he became a full time evangelist and worked for an organization that focused on teenagers.

Graham first rose to prominence while holding his so-called Los Angeles Crusade in 1949.

Many years ago, Robert Benchley, a celebrated humorist, essayist, film actor and regular at New York’s Algonquin Round Table, took time in an article to reflect on misconceptions about his city, widely viewed in those days as a cesspool of sin, gin and cynical sophistication.

Graham’s first crusade was in London in 1959.

Health problems interrupted another crusade in Toronto four decades later.

“He would never be in a hotel room or office with another woman other than his wife or family members”, Holley said.

Having served as spiritual adviser to every US president since Dwight Eisenhower, Billy Graham truly deserved the moniker of “America’s pastor”.

Graham was known for having close relationships with every USA president going back to Harry Truman.

Excitement surrounded the entire visit, Ralstin said. Numerous times Mr. Graham stated that he was anxious to go to heaven. He wrote more than 30 books, his final “The Reason for Hope: Salvation” was released in 2013.

Graham delivered his final message in 2013 via more than 480 television stations across the US and Canada.

“He was one who met presidents and preachers, monarchs and musicians, the poor and the rich, the young and the old, face to face”.

As a preacher, Graham reached more than 200 million through his appearances and millions more through his pioneering use of television and radio and legions of loyal followers and friends – including Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. “That’s what I’d like to think”, Stanley said.

Graham became a household name by the 1950s, after founding the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and was lauded for inclusivity and contributing to social change.
