Arsenal Manager Says Keeping His Job Is His ‘Last Worry’

Arsenal crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in Sunday’s EFL Cup final to increase the pressure on Wenger amid the club’s woes.

Manchester City will be looking to finish the Premier League season strongly and they now have momentum after lifting the first trophy of the Pep Guardiola era. They now sit at 6th in the league table, 27 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger has claimed he is “amazed” at fresh speculation regarding his future as Arsenal manager.

“I have been here for 21 years and I always respected my contract”, he said.

“I think everyone recognises the football that they’re playing this year is high up there with some of the best we’ve seen in the Premier League era”.

I agree with Tony on the De Bruyne comment but, like many others, had questions about how his son was a red! “Honestly, that’s the last worry I have at the moment”. My focus is to get the team ready for tomorrow’s game.

The end-of-season review will be key as to whether Wenger is given the chance to stay for another campaign.

“My job is to focus on performing and my job is to perform”. It would take a courageous person to back the Gunners to come out with a better result, but a much-improved performance will be expected by supporters as the pressure on Arsene Wenger continues to grow. It isn’t for me to evaluate that. And given Antonio Conte’s immediate success at Chelsea, it would be interesting to see if Allegri could have a similar impact if he moved from Juventus to the Premier League. That is what is important. “They don’t have to do it, it is in another country but it makes me really happy because it helps people understand what is going on”. “Of course, I don’t want to damage my team or club”. When you look at the two first goals yesterday, they were goals that you can avoid.

When asked whether he thought Arsenal’s all-time top scorer Thierry Henry could step into Wenger’s place once he leaves his position, Wright admitted it would be tough on Henry to come in and build upon Wenger’s legacy, fearing his reputation among Arsenal supporters would be at risk. Gary Neville led the way on Sky Sports by labelling Arsenal as “spineless” and questioning why some of their players were walking and failing to track back.

Guardiola shares Wenger’s ideals of how the game should be played and has spoken glowingly of his admiration for his counterpart’s longevity. You have to analyse if that is a serious problem. There is “growing support” in the boardroom for him to go, although majority shareholder Stan Kroenke will still make the final decision.
