His comments came after a leaked United Nations report found North Korea responsible for supplying Syria with equipment that could be used to develop chemical weapons.

North Korea is under global sanctions over its nuclear programme. According to The New York Times, those shipments included prohibited ballistic missile parts. The tiles are said to be used to construct facilities where chemical weapons are produced.

Mogherini said a copy of the letter was sent to all 28 European Union foreign ministers as well as Antonio Guterres, the secretary general of the UN. He said “the hotline of the Russian reconciliation center has begun receiving calls about public executions of those who are trying to flee from the enclave”. “It’s the full United Nations resolution that needs to be implemented”.

The Syrian army units confronted early today the armed groups in southern Douma, the main stronghold of the Army of Islam. Lavrov said it remained to be seen how honest the rebel assertions were. “This is a very bad situation for me”.

We review the key developments in Syria, including civilians staying in Eastern Ghouta despite the fighting, Amnesty warning of “indiscriminate” attacks in Afrin and Azaz, and the USA calling out Russian Federation for failing to stop Damascus carrying out chemical weapons attacks.

The targeting of civilians by all parties in Syria is unacceptable.

More than 550 civilians, nearly a quarter of them children, have been killed since strikes escalated on February 18. A commander in the forces backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said Syria’s Tiger Force elite unit was participating in the operation.

Russian Federation said on Tuesday it would strive to maintain a “humanitarian corridor” to let aid in and civilians out of Syria’s besieged eastern Ghouta region, although the first five-hour truce unilaterally declared by Moscow quickly collapsed.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemicals Weapons (OPCW) has launched an investigation into attacks in the besieged enclave to determine whether banned munitions had been used, diplomatic sources told Reuters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday urged other stakeholders in the Syrian crisis to cooperate for muzzling the guns in East Ghouta, on Damascus’s outskirts.

Putin said many militants in eastern Ghouta belong to groups listed by the U.N.as terrorist organizations.

Syria and North Korea have decades-old military ties.

Russia’s top diplomat took particular issue with “nuclear so-called sharing missions”, in which one sees “non-nuclear (EU) member states taking place in the planning of the use of USA non-strategic nuclear weapons, and involved in corresponding skills training”.

North Korea is already under a range of global and U.S. sanctions over its nuclear programme and missile tests.
