Australia must maintain pressure on North Korea: PM

President Donald Trump has got the support of former National Basketball Association star and Celebrity Apprentice contestant Dennis Rodman as he prepares for a high-stakes meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

If the meeting does take place it would mark the first sit-down between a serving USA president and a Korean leader.

US Vice President Mike Pence said in a statement that North Korea’s desire to meet is evidence Trump’s strategy to isolate the Kim regime is working.

Tillerson’s comments follow a sudden announcement that Kim had to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in person “as soon as possible”.

The White House confirmed that Trump would accept Kim’s invitation to meet. “Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached”, Trump said.

He said the suggestions were that Trump was not approaching the idea of a summit with the caution and preparation needed, but he acknowledged the USA president had his own way of doing things.

Tillerson – who had said the day before that now was not the time to negotiate with the North – then tried to draw a distinction between “talks” and “negotiations”.

But skeptics are not expecting the meeting to lead a major change in North Korea’s arsenal. Asked by CBS News if Mr. Trump is giving Kim what he wants – recognition on the worldwide stage – Sanders said that isn’t the case here.

North and South Korea exchanged envoys as Pyongyang sent a delegation to the South´s Winter Olympics, which Seoul had dubbed the “Peace Games”.

In addition to his relationship with Kim, Rodman also has something of a history with Trump, appearing on his Celebrity Apprentice television show in 2009 and 2013.

Kim said he was committed to denuclearization and promised to refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests, according to Chung. “So you don’t have a bench, you don’t have the talent you would normally have because President Trump has forsaken the State Department”, Burns said.

Warren, after an “Open House” at Springfield Technical Community College, told reporters she’s “glad to see” the Trump administration embrace a diplomatic approach to ending North Korea’s nuclear weapons program – an area in which she argued there is no military-only solution.
