Snow Remains in Overnight Forecast
That was the request early Wednesday morning from the Virginia State Police, as rain eventually turned to sleet and snow during the overnight hours. When you get a sudden stratospheric warning event like we saw in Jan, it often means you can get more than one/two/three bouts of colder weather.

The Met Office long range forecast suggest that the cold weather could persist until the end of April.
Forecasters said showers and a low in the low 40s are likely Friday night. Temperatures across the region will remain in the lower 40’s.
As of 1:45 p.m., VDOT reports some of the highways around Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and Tappahannock are in “moderate” condition, meaning that snow covers much of the roadway but it’s passable with caution.

It’s too early to tell if the frozen precipitation will materialize in the Piedmont Triad, though it appears the chance for snow is more certain this weekend for the High Country and northern mountains.
High temperatures Thursday and Friday will be in the mid-50s with some sun. Temperatures falling into the 30s.
Thursday night we will have a partially clear sky as temperatures drop into the lower to mid 20s.

Monday: Isolated showers are possible (rain coverage at 20%) with lows near 60 degrees and highs in the upper 70s. Breezy north winds will continue through the period between an upper low over the southwest U.S and building high pressure over the eastern Pacific.
