The Met Office long range forecast suggest that the cold weather could persist until the end of April.

As of 1:45 p.m., VDOT reports some of the highways around Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and Tappahannock are in “moderate” condition, meaning that snow covers much of the roadway but it’s passable with caution.

It’s too early to tell if the frozen precipitation will materialize in the Piedmont Triad, though it appears the chance for snow is more certain this weekend for the High Country and northern mountains.
