Student Journalists on Reporting Florida Shooting

Around 200 teachers, students, and chaperones from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and nearby schools flew to D.C. from Fort Lauderdale on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s “March For Our Lives” against gun violence.

Seasoned activists have marveled at what the students accomplished so far, including a sweeping gun bill in Florida and school walkouts attended by over a million students last week, according to organizers Women’s March. As for thoughts on the march as a potentially historic moment, Trejos said the impact hasn’t registered with him yet.

“I feel we’re all part of a family here”, said Tanner Bailey, of Wisconsin. “That’s where I’m at”.

Many North Carolina students and adults will be traveling north to the protest, which will start on Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd St. and 12th St. NW at 12 p.m.
