Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S

Xiaomi has unveiled a new flagship smartphone, Mi Mix 2S on March 27. The device was initially scheduled to release at the MWC 2018 but was later postponed. A Snapdragon 845 processor powers the phone, which is paired with the Adreno 630 GPU. The unit might offer wireless charging capabilities, and we could see the handset support all global 4G LTE bands.

Xiaomi already sells a number of products in the USA, including its Android TV set-top box, Mi TV, at Walmart locations around the country, The Verge reported on Monday.

The Mi Mix 2S also inherits the same 5.99-inch Full HD+ screen from its predecessor which leaves very room for bezels around the sides excluding the bottom. This smart AI-based voice assistant has been introduced along with the Mi Mix 2S and is touted to take over Apple Siri. It has fingerprint sensor on the rear. Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2S is also going full blast with AI technology and other features that are mostly found on top-notch premium smartphones.

The Mi Gaming Laptop has been launched in China starting at a price of CNY 5,999 (approximately Rs 60,000) and will start selling from 13 April. One with a regular lens, bigger pixel size of 1.4 ultra pixels and the other is a telephoto lens for better bokeh and optical zoom. There is a dual rear camera setup that is placed vertically.

In our brief testing, the shots Mi Mix 2S clicked were indeed dramatically better than the Mi Mix 2 and certainly on par with any modern smartphone. Well, the latest Xiaomi flagship smartphone supports 7.5W Qi wireless charging similar to the 2017 iPhone models. The front camera also supports face unlock. Otherwise, the software on the Mi Mix 2 is Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.5, on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. The major changes are made in the camera department.

The smartphone will now use Xiaomi’s new multi-frame noise reduction algorithms to get clearer pictures, just like Google’s HDR+ feature. It supports up to 4K video recording @ 30fps and 240fps slow-motion video recording at 720p and 1080p resolutions.

The selfie camera is a bit of a disappointment though, as Xiaomi is still stuck to a 5MP shooter for the front. The smartphone is available in two colors – Black and White – and it ships with a 3400 mAh battery which fuels the entire package.
