It may be spring, but messy winter weather is still sticking around. Expected snowfall accumulations range from 2 to 4 inches.
This includes Dillon, Ennis, Whitehall, Twin Bridges, Wisdom, Wise River, Raynolds Pass, Monida Pass, Big Hole, Chief Joseph Pass. Winter weather advisories are posted for the entire area to highlight the likelihood of some unwelcome April snow this morning. The greatest likelihood of accumulation is from Youngstown south into Columbiana County. “Right now, we’re going for somewhere around 1 inch in the metro area, maybe one-and-a-half”.
The snow has forced road closures in England, with the A616 in South Yorkshire closed in both directions between A628 (Hazelhead) and A6102 (Deepcar). So, most likely, if we see snow it will be a small amount.
Wednesday: Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am.
“It will be snowing, but it will be compacting”, she said, adding that warmer air in April makes the snow dense rather than fluffy.
Model spread for Butte is a little more diverse.
“If you live in Upper Montgomery County, Frederick County, Loudoun and back toward the I-81 corridor, you could actually pick up accumulating snow”, said Storm Team4 meteorologist Somara Theodore. The North Platte airport saw 3.3 inches.
The storm will move out to sea later today and leave us with clearing skies, but chilly conditions with readings about 10 degrees below seasonal averages. “In fact, in many areas, the temperature may never get below freezing, so that should help get the roads, -if there are any issues-better pretty quickly early Monday”, said Thompson.
