Britain’s Mo Farah clinched the gold in the 10000m in the final on the opening day of the IAAF World Championships at the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing on Sunday.

Farah’s Kenyan rivals threw everything at him, but were unable to contend with the defending champion as he showed a blistering turn of pace to win in 27 minutes 1.13 seconds.
The Briton went briefly to the front with four and a half laps to go and then again with 1200 metres left, before surging definitively with 500m to go, a lead he would never relinquish despite a stumble as he overtook a lapped runner. Kamathi phoned me recently and told me that we have what it takes to win the title. “Whether things could have been done better, it’s not for me to necessarily know”.
The reigning Olympic and world 5,000 and 10,000 metres champion has now won six straight distance titles at major championships going back to his second place in the longer event at the 2011 world championships in Daegu. Salazar, also the coach of American Galen Rupp who finished fifth on Saturday, denies any wrongdoing.
“I couldn’t do my job unless I believed that”, British Athletics performance director Black said when asked if he thought the 64 athletes in Britain’s squad for Beijing were all clean.
Mo Farah has regained his 10,000m crown at the World Athletics Championships after beating Geoffrey Kamworor in a sprint finish in Beijing. “I’ve just had to let my running to the talking and just keep winning medals”.

He said: “It’s brilliant Seb has come into his role and I have huge confidence he will drive the changes necessary”.
