HS Softball: Marinelli, Halpin lead Hasbrouck Heights to 13-1 win

The Sonora High School girls softball team picked up a league win this week, beating Bret Harte 4-2.

CISNE – The Farina South Central Lady Cougars used a four-run fifth inning to help defeat Cisne 9-2 on Monday.

The Knights wasted little time answering. Hayden Walls got the win on the mound pitching three innings of no-hit baseball. He allowed two hits and a walk and didn’t strike out anyone in a solid damage-control outing that started in the sixth inning.

“He had his curve ball going today and it’s a good thing”, Poloni said.

“Definitely a lot better from the pitching side of things”, he said.

A plus for Wilkes in game two was that Welker hit her second home run of the day and third on the year in the bottom of the seventh, spoiling Kocher’s shutout bid.

Tyler Linnell pitched a scoreless sixth before running into trouble in the seventh.

Davis tripled in a run in the second before Dunham exploded for five more runs in the third, highlighted by Laurence’s two-run single and Suire’s run-scoring single.

Derek May pitched a complete game and the Fieldcrest baseball team defeated Ridgeview 7-2 on Monday in a Heart of Illinois Conference game in Colfax. In the ten games, Rurka is batting.433 with 13 hits, five doubles, and eight RBI while also posting a.700 slugging percentage. Kelseyville and Fort Bragg (2-0) are the only undefeated teams remaining. Tess Mubarek drove in the first NHS run, and the second scored on an error.

Shelby Murphy added three hits and two RBIs for the Warriors (6-0).
