New York Jets Not Thrilled About Ryan Fitzpatrick

We’ve got two potentially very good games on the docket tonight with the Falcons on the road against the Jets and the Seahawks visiting the Chiefs, which is also the national game this evening on NFL Network.

Fitzpatrick has only participated in five practices and one game possession with the starters since taking over for Smith. He’ll get another chance to prove his skills against an aggressive Falcons front that features several first-rounds picks in Vic Beasley, Tyson Jackson and Adrian Clayborn. The defense ramped up the pressure on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who narrowly escaped a sack on the opening drive. He used a 60-yard short pass-and-run to fullback Collin Mooney to set up a 4-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Leonard Hankerson.

Backed by a stellar start by their first-team offense, the Falcons went up 17-0 against the Tennessee Titans in Dan Quinn’s coaching debut.

Beyond the obvious headliners, I’m curious to watch how Vic Beasley Jr. does in his second preseason outing.

In control, the reserves stepped onto the field. In the Jets’ second preseason game of 2015, first-round draft pick Leonard Williams blew past what appeared to be a busted blocking assignment by Falcons guard James Stone and sacked quarterback T.J. Yates in the end zone.

The Jets were suddenly within 14-10, and Bowles credited Williams for providing the spark. But Archer was unable to move his team into range of a winning field goal in the final minutes Friday night.

Fitzpatrick completed 13-of-19 passes without a touchdown or an interception, while Bryce Petty who came on after him did a little bit better, although against weaker opposition on defense. “When you get going and you want to start fast, those plays help a lot”. Just moments later, Jerome Smith coughed up the football on a handoff from Sean Renfree. Current score is 14-30.

Michael Ford would reduce the deficit, but the Falcons would fall to defeat.

Rookie Lion’s running back Ameer Abdullah ran circles around the new and improved Jets D, racking up a total of 67 yards on the ground and making Jets defenders look silly along the way.

Now, these two squads will square off against each other in a preseason battle that pits a handful of storylines against each other with a laser focus establishing some sort of rhythm on both sides of the ball.
