Russian Federation will down U.S. missiles fired at Syria

A Downing Street spokesman said of the calls: “They agreed that reports of a chemical weapons attack in Syria were utterly reprehensible and, if confirmed, represented further evidence of the Assad regime’s appalling cruelty against its own people and total disregard for its legal obligations not to use these weapons”.

“In the current situation”, an investigation “is too hard”, said Mohamad Katoub of the Syrian American Medical Society.

At least 60 people were killed in Saturday’s suspected chemical weapons attack on the town of Douma, Syrian relief workers said.

“This is about humanity, we’re talking about humanity, and it can’t be allowed to happen”, he said.

He said: “We have a lot of options militarily, and we’ll be letting you know pretty soon”.

The UN Secretary General has called for worldwide investigators to have unfettered access after the alleged chemical attack in Syria.

Ms Haley said the draft resolution was not impartial or independent since it would allow Russian Federation to veto investigators and staff for the new body – and to block its findings.

Last night, Trump said “nothing is off the table” in Syria and has vowed to respond “forcefully”.

In what The Daily Telegraph calls an “extraordinary response”, the U.S. president branded Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it”.

Last April, after a Sarin nerve agent attack killed more than 80 people in a Syrian opposition-held town, Mr Trump ordered the firing of dozens of cruise missiles at a Syrian government air base from US Navy ships in the Mediterranean.

USA officials said military options were being developed.

As early as mid-March, Russian Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said Syrian rebels were preparing “provocations” involving chemical weapons in Eastern Ghouta, where Douma is located.

It comes after Syria and its military backer, Russia, both said they wanted to facilitate a visit by inspectors.

Mr Trump said the USA is still investigating the possible involvement of the Iranian and Russian governments.

The OPCW’s fact-finding mission for Syria was established in 2014 to confirm chemical weapons use, but it does not have the mandate to establish who is responsible. Mr. Trump, though, tweeted on Sunday “many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria”.

The Syrian government and its Russian backers strongly deny the allegations, and questioned whether a chemical weapons attack even took place.

“It reveals the capacity and the will to use weapons which are outlawed by global law”, he said.
