Syria: UN Security Council meets over US-led air strikes
Gen. Ali Mayhoub said that the Scientific Research Center in Barzeh near Damascus was hit, while three people were injured in Homs when a missile was targeted. “They were the result of the Syrian regime’s barbaric inhumanity”.

“We can not stand by and let Russian Federation trash every global norm that we stand for and allow the use of chemical weapons to go unanswered”, she added.
Mr. Nebenzia also said that the Western powers should not have acted until a chemical-weapons inspection team, which arrived in Syria on Saturday, had been given a chance to do its work.
“Chlorine and possibly nerve agents were used”, Pence said during his address at the Summit of the Americas in Peru.
Haley also accused Russian Federation of defending Syrian President Bashar Assad and failing to ensure that the war-torn country’s cache of poison gas was destroyed.
A European Commission spokeswoman insisted Brussels “has a voice” and the EU “condemns in the strongest terms the use of chemical weapons”.
In May past year, the BBC reported that the Barzah site was being used by the Syrian regime to install chemical weapons on long-range missiles, violating the 2013 agreement to eliminate chemical weapons from the country.
One major concern the United States had was that the Syria strikes would prompt a direct confrontation between Washington and Moscow, whose relations have spiraled downward in recent months.
France joined the United Kingdom and U.S. in today’s military strikes in retaliation for Syria’s use of chemical weapons.
“Once again, we demand an immediate stop to aggression and refrain from the illegal use of force in the future”, he said.
But the Pentagon said the United States had “deconfliction” contacts with Russia before and after the strikes, that Syrian air defence systems had been largely ineffective and there was no indication that Russian systems had been employed.
The Security Council rejected the resolution.
“The pictures of dead children were not fake news”, Haley told the United Nations security council on Saturday.
Angela Merkel said the US, Britain and France “took responsibility in this way as permanent members of the UN Security Council”.
“The United States and its allies continue to demonstrate blatant disregard for worldwide law”, he said.
“We’re going to get back to our country, where we belong, where we want to be”.
This comes days after the US, Britain, and France conducted “precision strikes” in Syria on Friday in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack by the Syrian government.

Haley says the fact that Assad was making the use of chemical weapons “more normal and that Russian Federation was covering this up, all that has got to stop”. Demonstrators say they are against Trump’s administration and believe this is a war of aggression. “I can assure you that the president is watching”.
