Sully Reflects on Similarities in Southwest Emergency Landing

She said in the book that the Air Force wasn’t interested, but the Navy gave her an opening. But in the middle of it all, Coleman heard a strong voice from the Texan in the cockpit.

“It sounded just like her”.

Flight 1380 passengers have praised how Shults skillfully landed their plane after it depressurized and how she greeted each passenger after they were safely on the ground. Seven others were injured. It was posted on the company’s website and on its social media accounts.

Passengers said if it wasn’t for Shults staying as composed as she was, the end result could have been worse. Her friends say she is still in Philadelphia on Wednesday being interviewed by authorities conducting the investigation.

Shults, who was one of America’s first female fighter pilots, is being called a hero over the incident on Flight 1380 from New York’s LaGuardia to Dallas Love Field, which was forced into an emergency landing at Philadelphia when an engine caught fire and disintegrated.

Mike Mantooth, executive pastor of ministries and missions at First Baptist, told BP via email, “I’m always amazed at the caliber of people at FBC Boerne. Unfortunately they lost one person, but fortunately it was only one person”. “So proud she was able to do her job”. “It appears we are going down!” passenger Marty Martinez wrote in the caption of a livestream video, showing himself breathing through a mask. We do ask that those who seek to express their condolences and prayers, as well as media outlets, respect our privacy at this time. “You did a very good job”, passenger Amy Serafini said. “In her memory – please do not forget to always be kind, loving, caring, and sharing”.

She met her husband, Dean, in the Navy where he was also a pilot.

Calling her friend a woman with a big heart and giving spirit, Thompson said the Shults’ are involved with the church, and that Tammie Jo is a regular volunteer at Meadowland Charter School.

As has been widely reported, during a flight from LaGuardia Airport in NY, that was on its way to Dallas, Texas, an explosion on the aircraft caused it to lose an engine and knock out a window.

Shults left active duty in 1993 – right as the Navy finally allowed women to fly in combat operations – but she stayed in the Navy Reserve until she retired in August 2001. “They said there’s a hole and, uh, someone went out”. Late Wednesday, Southwest Airlines released a statement on behalf of Ellison and Capt. Tammie Jo Shults, who was also working on the flight.

First Baptist, which cooperates with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, affirms a confession of faith that largely parallels the Baptist Faith and Message, including Article XVIII on the family.

“Can you have the medical meet us there on the runway”, she calmly told air traffic controllers.

“It was because of Him, not her”, Thompson said. “He was the captain”.

“She’s a formidable woman, as sharp as a tack”, said Gary Shults, a dentist in San Antonio.
