Trump should use caution in North Korea talks: Condoleezza Rice

Trump has proposed holding the summit at the truce village in the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas, adding that two or three locations were under consideration. In each case, North Korea lied, failed to live up to agreements and abandoned the deals. “I want to get peace”.

Not very long ago, the Korean Peninsula had become a nuclear flash point and the media was agog with speculations of a Third World War.

The Vienna-based global nuclear watchdog has the capability to confirm whether or not Kim Jong-un follows through on his promise to shut down the launch site at Mount Mantap by the end of May.

Mr Trump wants to hold it by late this month or early next month. At that time Kim threatened the US homeland by boasting he could take out American cities, Inhofe continued.

The Liberty Korea Party pointed out the document contains pro-North Korean undertones, and North Korean style socialist terminologies such as “uriminzokkiri”, meaning “our people alone”, which is also the name of the North’s propaganda website. Rice, however, urged caution, replying that “the North Koreans have a tendency to do this when they’re under pressure”.

Usually, in these unpleasant days, I refuse to get into these arguments unless there is something positive to learn from them, but for some reason this time I chose to admonish him: “That’s ridiculous”.

Trump surprised his advisers and others in March by quickly agreeing to meet with Kim after receiving a briefing from a South Korean delegation that had met with the North’s leader.

Chosun suggested the arrival of F-22 jets could also be aimed at bolstering security in case the North Korea-US summit takes place at Panmunjom.

“It looks like we’re on the verge of something impressive”, Steve Doocy told former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in regard to talks with North Korea on Fox & Friends this morning.

But many United States officials are doubtful that Mr Kim will actually agree to give up nuclear weapons after working so long to develop them.

At the meeting, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will host South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, for a series of talks meant to strengthen cooperation between the three countries, according to a statement released by the South Korean President’s Office Tuesday.

“The Blue House spokesperson added, “(We will) discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between Korea, Japan and China for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and the establishment of a permanent peace”.

Many South Koreans were struck by the live TV images during the summit of a smiling and joking Kim.

In the declaration document, the two leaders pledged to seek a peace treaty this year to formally declare the Korean War over, 65 years after hostilities ceased.

Through the inter-Korean Summit and the Panmunjeom Declaration, the two leaders established a framework for a sustainable and irreversible development of the inter-Korean relations. A meeting between Trump and Kim has been talked about, but no date has been confirmed.

The gathering of South Korean Japanese and Chinese leaders is the latest move in a diplomatic whirlwind centred around North Korea
