Android P: 3 major features you should know about [I/O 2018]

Google Android P is a pack of many smart features that prioritizes the battery power only for the apps majorly used on the user’s device. Thus the users can get the early view of next version of Android from the beta version. However, unlike previous versions of Android, Android P Beta won’t be a Google Pixel-exclusive OS.

Numerous aforementioned features are already rolling out to Google Assistant app on Android and iOS, but some of them will be available later this year.

Artificial intelligence was a key theme at the event, where Google also laid out plans to use AI to help users spend less time on their phone and other devices. Additionally, Google Assistant will support multiple commands uttered in a single sentence, and you will be able to converse with the assistant without having to say “OK Google” every time. You will also be able to set app usage limit with app timer to keep your productive and avoid interruption. Alongside Pixel phones, Android P Beta update is rolling out to other non-pixel phones as well.

There are also App Actions, which learn user habits and then predict which app a user is likely to turn to next – for example raising a prompt to resume a Spotify playlist when a pair of headphones are plugged in. New apps and software updates will be available in real time and can be automatically applied. A second “Swipe Up” would open the app drawer.

The Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness functions were developed with Google’s AI unit DeepMind. A long swipe up takes you to the App Tray with AI detected apps at the top for quick access.

Make sure that your smartphone is enough charged or connect it to the wall charger during the update process. In the same post, Google said that it has been implementing machine learning into nearly everything that it does over the past few years.

However, we’ve already been able to achieve this but Chrome OS didn’t have native support, so we couldn’t get the apps running at their full performance. It’s built a name for itself ever since it launched the OnePlus One back in 2014 and has grown significantly in recent years.
