Fox cancels ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘Last Man on Earth’
Late Thursday afternoon, FOX’s shock cancellation of the beloved Brooklyn Nine-Nine after five seasons led to mass hysteria, to put it mildly.

Earlier this season the show hit its 100th episode milestone, and now stands as the second-longest running live-action Fox comedy behind Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl.
Numerous show’s cast members and celebrity fans are now expressing their disappointment over the news via social media.
It’s a comedy bloodbath over at Fox today, with cancellations going out to three comedies. Like The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has a loyal, young audience that does most of their watching via streaming.
Another commented: “How could they cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine is nothing sacred?”
Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago, said starring in the show had been a “huge honour”.
FOX ordered 13 episodes for the first season and later expanded it to 22. And the show and its actors received a ton of praise from critics, earned several Emmy nominations, and won a whole lot of other awards, from a Golden Globe through an American Comedy Award, two Critic’s Choice Awards and a GLAAD Media Award.
After hearing the news, Hulu made a decision to continue running the show and it lasted for another three seasons before ending on its own terms in 2017.
There’s no word as to whether Last Man will be shopped around to other networks, as well, but hope lives on as long as Phil Tandy Miller and company are still “alive in Tucson”, or Zihuatanejo, or wherever.
Why was Brooklyn Nine-Nine cancelled? But it had a hard time gaining any momentum as it was constantly moved from Sundays and Tuesdays.
Originally debuting in September 2013, the show will finish with 112 episodes across five seasons. #brooklyn99 fans are the best fans in the world.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, at least four networks have lined up as possible suitors and the studio wants to continue the show. The Mick, Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn Nine Nine were all cancelled.
‘This petition shows the support and enthusiasm for the show being picked up.’ Her petition has been signed by over 18,000 people.

The main difference between Brooklyn Nine-Nine and its older siblings is that while The Office is skewering office culture and Parks is a parody of local government, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is just a show about good cops doing their jobs.
