Tracking showers and storms for your weekend

Once again, we’ll be contending with the fog this morning. Winds out of the east northeast mainly sustained around 11 miles per hour.

As advertised, we saw some drastic differences in temperatures across the region Saturday due to a warm front slowly advancing east-northeastward from our south and west. Scattered showers and storms are likely to arrive Tuesday.

High pressure off the coast will help our temperatures to really warm up for the weekend.

Let’s cross our fingers so all the moms out there can have some nice weather for the big day on Sunday! But Sunday night’s forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of about 54. That being said, it’s not all bad for our Mother’s Day. So rain chances will be much above normal for the 7-day forecast.

As we go into the rest of the week, a summery stretch will move in.

You can follow my updates here and on Twitter @growingwisdom. Sunday: Mostly sunny – high near 94 with west wind 6 to 8 miles per hour.

Severe weather is not expected with the morning round of showers and storms. They’ll usually pass through a neighborhood in a matter of minutes, leaving good chances of rain/storms, but a day mostly dry nonetheless.

Saturday’s high is expected to creep up to the mid 80s, even though it’s still the middle of May. Highs in the mid-60s.

Saturday and Sunday will both be rather similar to Friday. Highs in the upper 60s. Highs in the mid 70s in north central Kansas to the mid 80s to low 90s elsewhere.

Weekend forecast: A little rain, a little sunshine
