President Trump meets Kim Jong Un

President Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un signed an agreement on Tuesday pledging to work towards the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, while the US would provide security guarantees for the country.

“North Korea has previously confirmed to us its willingness to denuclearize, and we are eager to see if those words prove honest”, Pompeo said.

“We have developed a very special bond”, Trump said. “Top of the line, really good”. “We are about to sign a historic document”.

It’s a surreal image: Dennis Rodman, standing in Singapore, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and sunglasses, giving an interview through tears as he cheers for President Donald Trump.

North Korea expert Robert E. Kelly (aka BBC Dad) had his own particularly withering take on what he considered a non-event. “We will be tremendously successful”.

“I’m so thankful and fortunate we didn’t talk about politics”. “There were obstacles but we overcame them to be here”.

Republican Trump supporters put his name forward to the Norwegian Nobel Committee in recognition of “his tireless work to bring peace to our world” in May.

He said flying bomber aircraft from Guam for the exercises meant a six-and-a-half hours journey that was an expense the U.S. could do without.

President Donald Trump says he’ll invite North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to visit the White House at the “appropriate time”.

Mr Trump said he was feeling “really great” and Mr Kim said North Korea and the USA had overcome obstacles to be able to hold talks, saying it “was not easy to get here”.

However, there were no immediate details on the contents of the document but US President Trump said he expected the denuclearization process to start “very, very quickly”.

They met one on one for about 40 minutes, had an expanded meeting joined by a few aides, and concluded their morning activities with a working lunch.

Mr Lee, for his part, thanked Mr Kim for coming to Singapore, the farthest the North Korean leader has travelled out of his country since assuming power in 2011. Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) mentioned that the summit is being held “under the great attention and expectation of the whole world”.

One fake Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Mr Trump has already been invalidated after a case of identity fraud was uncovered earlier this year.

Both ex-leaders have become a cautionary tale for autocrats with nuclear ambitions, as they both surrendered their countries’ weapons of mass destruction programs, only to be eventually deposed with USA help.

Rodman recalled speaking to then president Barack Obama about these conditions, but “Obama didn’t even give me the time”.
