Kim Jong Un was also quoted saying that he “got to know Singapore’s economic power and development as well as their awesome rise” through the tour of the city. This is a positive development. -North Korea meeting will advance the prospects for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the larger region. “So this is an important concession that the United States is making to North Korea”.

“We’re not going to go in and sign something on June 12th and we never were”, Trump told White House reporters on June 1.

It will be the first-ever meeting between the leaders of the USA and North Korea.

Trump had been scheduled to fly back to Washington on Wednesday morning after spending Tuesday with Kim. He responded by saying that there wasn’t time. “We just need the doors to be opened so we can start fresh”, he said, telling Cuomo, “it’s a great day” and exclaiming: “I’m so happy!”

The United States are demanding that North Korea denuclearise in exchange for security guarantees.

When President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un meet in Singapore on Tuesday, Kim is nearly certain to press the United States to withdraw its troops from South Korea. “We have developed a special bond”, he said.

The expanded meeting came after the one-on-one session between Kim and Trump, which the US leader described as “very, very good”.

Asked to describe Kim, Rodman said the autocratic leader was “like a big kid” who wants to have a good time, but is “trying to protect his people” and his honour.

This first summit between the two previously feuding leaders seemed impossible a year ago as they publicly hurled names at each other.

Kim’s black armored limousine with two large North Korean flags was surrounded Tuesday by police vehicles, their lights flashing, and other black cars. Whether the talks break down, whether they come to an agreement, whether agree to agree or even agree to disagree I think Kim comes out a victor.

North Koreans have always wanted a meeting with a US president, just no previous administration was willing to do this kind of meeting unless it came with a substantive commitment or concession on denuclearization. Kim has sought to overhaul his image this year in a bid to ease worldwide sanctions imposed after he tested nuclear bombs and long-range ballistic missiles. Most important, few believe Kim is actually willing to give up the nuclear weapons that cement his grip on power.
