– The top story of the day was Tom Brady. The two misses were drops by tight end Rob Gronkowski.
Well, it was the total opposite for Brady on Thursday. This facet of the offense looks to be strong the whole year, with a plethora of talent to make the quarterback’s life a lot easier. He’s proven to be a solid passer on the run and in the short game, but struggled to connect on the deep ball to Josh Boyce. His numbers do not appear to be the best, because quarterbacks were not throwing to him. Garoppolo was not overly impressive in the team’s first scrimmage often going for the long ball and taking too long to make throw, but he is who they have to go with if Brady is unavailable, as The Boston Globe recently pointed out. We were prepared for it. We did a good job staying together.
Defensively, Malcolm Butler rebounded from a bad day yesterday with a decent one today.
Mason, as expected, had some issues in pass protection against the Packers. “There are a ton of things we need to work on and when you get a different team (in practice) I think it prevents you from falling into that going-through-the-motions routine that can happen”.
“I’ve never worked directly with Sean, just in situations like this, where we’ve worked jointly on practices and things like that, and that’s always gone real smoothly”, Belichick said.
In 7-on-7’s, Brady floated a lovely pass that had both touch and incredibly accuracy, leading Matthew Slater open in the back left corner of the end zone for six. He had a attractive TD reception on a well thrown pass from Brady.
Mundine only was targeted once against the Green Bay Packers, and we’re still waiting to see what he can do after the catch. Yes, I said 14. I think they’re working hard.
Moss, 38, spent three years of career in New England, including 2007 when he caught a record-high 23 touchdowns in the regular season before the Giants ruined the Patriots’ undefeated season in the Super Bowl. You can check those out here. That said, the Patriots should have enough Running power to replace him easily. Snead took a quick swipe at Swanson, but Duron Harmon came over to quickly break it up, with some help from Danny Amendola.
“I’m a big fan of Tom Brady as a player and I really enjoy being around him as a person”. We’re mixing personnel. It is coming from the sideline.
– There are growing concerns about WR Brian Tyms, who wasn’t out there after apparently pulling up lame on Wednesday with an injury.
Absent for both sessions were Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson, Brandon LaFell, Darryl Roberts, Travaris Cadet, Dane Fletcher, Eric Martin, Ryan Wendell, Bryan Stork, Caylin Hauptmann, Rufus Johnson, Joe Vellano, Trey Flowers, Jake Bequette, Scott Chandler and Chris Jones.

Preseason or not, neither the New England Patriots nor New Orleans Saints are used to losing.
