Apple also announced three new smartphones: the iPhone XS, with a 5.8-inch screen, starting at $999; the iPhone XS Max, with a 6.5-inch screen (the largest iPhone ever), starting at $1,099; and the iPhone XR, with a 6.1-inch screen, starting at $749. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max also get a new Gold colour option, apart from Space Grey and Silver.

Falling in line with the previous speculation, the new Apple Watch has significantly reduced the size of its bezels and now accommodates a 35% on the smaller model, while the larger one has seen a 32% increase in screen size. While last year’s premium priced iPhone X helped boost the company’s smartphone revenue, the stagnating unit sales are holding back the company’s overall growth, and have led to declining market share.

Apple also claimed its latest smartwatch offers 18 hours of battery life. The phones resist liquids like salt water and beer, and can allow for dual SIM cards for when you just need two phone numbers at once. There may have been gasps when the price of the iPhone X was revealed a year ago, and there is likely to be a repeat of this when people hear price tag that will be attached to this phone when it goes on sale. While the two XS devices will be available to pre-order from Friday and go on-sale on September 21, the XR will not be released until October. “It is a smart strategy to keep more people in the Apple ecosystem and get even more people to come into it”.
