United defence for accused pick for Trump top job Brett Kavanaugh
No, sir. Women have lots of reasons to keep an assault to themselves.

Continetti appeared on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press Daily”, where he discussed the coordinated response to Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault allegation against Kavanaugh and how her lawyers have moved the goal posts on expectations for next week’s hearing. Kavanaugh has accepted the committee’s invitation for Monday, saying he “categorically and unequivocally” denies the assault.
Christine Blasey Ford, a professor who is now known as Mr Kavanaugh’s accuser, has firmly entered the fray. The Senate Judiciary Committee even offered to talk to her in her home state of California.
If Ford’s attorneys do not reach an agreement to one of the several options they have been offered for their client to tell her side of the story, Grassley will schedule a committee vote on Kavanaugh for Monday.
There is a sleight of hand that has allowed Grassley to turn a blind eye to this pivotal piece of evidence.
It’s unclear whether that would change after Ford’s attorneys spoke with the committee.
Grassley declined an earlier request by Ford to have the FBI investigate her allegation against Kavanaugh.
Senator Feinstein, the ranking member on the Judiciary Committee, did not share that letter with anyone on the committee, honoring the confidentiality of the writer.
You demanded that the number of rounds and minutes per round of questions be equal for all senators. These are two very different positions and Judge’s letter nearly appears to go out of its way to not distinguish one from the other.
Mark Judge must be subpoenaed. They point out that the powerful panel is quite capable of handling sensitive matters, including confidential ones, such as the July 30 letter that Ford wrote to Sen. Judge has told the committee he does not recall the incident and does not want to speak publicly.
The lawyers and numerous Democrats have repeatedly called for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to open a probe.
Equally troubling is the White House’s failure to direct the FBI to investigate Dr Ford’s accusation.
Ford has been sketchy on the details, the place and time, which has led some people to doubt her account. He’s wrong. The FBI routinely investigates all aspects of a judicial nominee’s background that may impact his fitness to sit as a judge. We reserve the option to have female staff attorneys, who are sensitive to the particulars of Dr. Ford’s allegations and are experienced investigators, question both witnesses.
Still Flake, who said previously that “We can’t vote until we hear more”, and was one of the first Republicans to call for the hearing’s delay, is also among those imploring Ford to testify Monday.
But they’re eager to avoid the spectacle of 11 Republican men cross-examining a woman who says she’s been victimized by a man.
Perkins said McConnell had been methodical in attempting to win Kavanaugh’s confirmation “but you’ve got to look at what he’s working with”.
“She wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety”.
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh arrives on the first day of his confirmation hearing in front of the Senate on Capitol Hill in Washington, on September 4, 2018.
Perkins noted that evangelical Christian voters turned out to vote for Donald Trump in 2016 due to Trump’s promise to nominate originalist judges to the Supreme Court.

GOP leaders fear a repeat of hearings for then-nominee Clarence Thomas, when Republican lawmakers sparked outrage by confirming Thomas despite Anita Hill accusing him of sexual harassment.
