Back Into Compton: Reliving NWA With Ice Cube

Speaking with NME as part of a Twitter Q&A yesterday with his son Oshea Jackson Junior, (who plays Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton) Ice Cube had plenty to say about N.W.A’s influence. However, Ice Cube’s publicist revealed in a public statement that the two have not officially bound themselves in partaking a role in the said upcoming movie.

Ice Cube and son O’Shea Jackson Jr. recently starred in the hit film “Straight Outta Compton“.

Linked to their success were speculations that indicated they were to star in the upcoming thriller movie that would tell a story of an ex-convict protecting his son after his business was raided by authorities. The LA riots took place on the 29th of April 1992. There were conflicting reports out of Hollywood last night that the two might be starring together in a film about the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

Asked if he can imagine a hip-hop artist making the same kind of political impact as NWA did when they first emerged, Ice Cube said he was confident they could.

To clear allegations, it has been confirmed by Ice Cube’s publicist this week that he and his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. will not participate in the upcoming “L.A. Riot” movie.
