World champion Amir Khan establishes boxing academy in Pakistan

Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and renowned boxer Amir Khan signed an agreement to establish a boxing academy. “Pakistan is a great country I really believe we can make several champions in this sport”, Amir Khan told the media after signing MoU.

Addressing the young boxers, trainers and officials of the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) at the complex, the boxer narrated that how his father had been at his back when he expressed his madness for boxing when he was quite young.

Pakistan Disabled Sports Association (PDSA) chairman Sheikh Abdul Waheed, secretary Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry along with disabled badminton players also met with Amir and presented him with a bouquet. Talking at the occasion, boxer Amir Khan said that he would personally impart training to boxers at the academy adding that the academy will give Pakistan a gold medal within one year of its establishment. I started boxing at the age of eight. “Pakistan is a great country”, said the boxer.

“This will not be the only academy in Pakistan as we are going to have many more”, he said while hinting that he might open next academy either in Karachi or Quetta.

Amir Khan, the British boxer of Pakistan origin, will be fully supported by the government for promoting boxing in the country.

Khan said he would keep on visiting Pakistan time to time to ensure his own availability for providing training to young pugilists. “Once the academy begins working it will produce champions within twelve months”. Amir Khan lauded them and said that they were a source of inspiration for other youngsters.

He could have easily opted to open academy in the USA, India or anywhere in the world and could have earned millions, but he opted in Pakistan’s favour, so the entire Pakistani nation is thankful to Amir.
