The Lenovo backed ZUK Z1 global version will be running on Cyanogen OS 12.1, which is a powerful, fast OS customized for the Z1 with various advanced features especially optimized for performance, privacy, security and power consumption. On Friday, it held the worldwide launch for the Z1.

Earlier this week, we told you that a certain CyanogenOS-based ZUK Z1 smartphone should soon be released in various markets around the world.
Recently, Cyanogen claimed that it has more than 50 million users worldwide, which is more than the combined mobile users of Windows and BlackBerry.
However, relations between Cyanogen and OnePlus later soured, with the two companies eventually deciding to part ways.
The Cyanogen OS, which is a modified version of Android, has been gaining a growing following over the years.
As for Cyanogen, the company teased in April that it was partnering with other Chinese smartphone vendors, but refused to say who.
The partnership marks the third major partnership for Cyanogen’s commercial OS offering, after OnePlus and Micromax.
On the inside, the Z1 is equipped with an old quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which is complemented by 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.
Even though there are still some key details about the ZUK Z1’s launch that are up in the air, it’s great to see that the device will be sold internationally. However, there are some notable additional features on offer with the Z1 and these include a Type-C USB 3.0 port, in replace of the standard microUSB port. While the home button also doubles as a fingerprint scanner too.

The ZUK Z1 is a flagship device scheduled for an October release. Moreover, there’s no word on how much the ZUK Z1 will cost, though we should expect its price to be around $300 (unlocked), since the handset costs $285 in China.
