Memorabilia Company Sells Out of Autographed Photos of Wilmer Flores Crying

When Wilmer Flores learned during a game on July 29 that he had been traded by the New York Mets, he let his emotions get the best of him and actually cried on the field. Earlier this month, Steiner Sports said it would sell 8×10 and 16×20 photos of the scene with Flores’ signature. The image rallied huge swaths of Mets fans to Flores’ corner.

Yeah, well, it’s all for sale and nobody should be surprised.

Brandon Steiner, CEO of the memorabilia company told ESPN that the image is “an emotional moment” that “showed how much he cared for playing for the team”. If that trade had gone through, and Met fans had realized what they would have missed out on, we would all have been crying.

Ron Swoboda’s diving catch in the World Series for the 1969 Miracle Mets, Mookie Wilson pushing the ball through Bill Buckner’s legs in ’86, Mike Piazza’s go-ahead home run at Shea Stadium after 9/11, and Wilmer Flores crying. Word had circulated through Twitter during the game that Flores was getting traded with Zack Wheeler to the Brewers for Carlos Gomez. After the trade to Milwaukee fell through, the Mets have been on fire.

Of course, if the Mets make a postseason run with Flores raking, the photo will be priceless.
