English Premier League: Jordan Henderson fears aggravating injury against Arsenal

After two wins to start the early Barclays Premier League season, Liverpool is looking to pull off another win, this time in a clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Monday. “But when I met him I asked him his preferred position, where he sees himself playing and that was as a controlling midfield player and that’s where I’ve always felt he’ll be an outstanding talent for us” – Brendan Rodgers on Emre Can.

Henderson has not given up hope of leading Liverpool against Arsenal, but admits he risks spending several weeks on the sidelines should he aggravate the injury. “It is all about pain, symptoms wise”.

“I have done something with my heel, so every time I plant my foot whether running or walking I can feel it. It has settled down over the last few days but I don’t know what it will be like in terms of Monday”.

“Hopefully it settles down some more”.

The Mirror reports that the player does not have a fracture but has a real problem with the ball of his foot and may be just short for their trip to the Emirates, where they had to face a heavy defeat last season.

“For me the linesman has made an excellent decision in terms of he’s assessed very quickly that there might have been an attempt but there’s no way Philippe Coutinho is going to get the ball”.

“Arsenal, like many teams, are still trying to find rhythm and flow but while doing that you want to win“.

Henderson went on to reveal that he has had problems in both feet for “a few months really” with typical understatement.

Can’s influence and footballing intelligence are unique attributes in the Liverpool squad and as such it seems logical that he should play some part in the team if they are to have a successful campaign.

The main concern for the Reds lies in midfield as the combination of Jordan Henderson and James Milner don’t possess the skill-set to operate as a midfield duo, without limiting one’s main strength.

“I want to play on Monday but, if I can’t, I need to get fit as soon as possible”.

Indeed, he said that there was unlikely to be any more business of any kind. Benteke could exploit Arsenal’s and Petr Cech’s set-piece weakness, or I’m to isolate diminutive full-backs Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin by pulling towards the far post.
