Reporter Keith Pompey said in a video posted to the Philly Inquirer’s website that the Philadelphia 76ers would like to see Embiid back in October. 2016.
Though there are some that still believe Embiid can make a full recovery and start to tap into his potential, there is a track record of former players whose careers were completely derailed by a navicular bone injury.
Hinkie said the Sixers would reassess its treatment approach after it proved unsuccessful previous year.
But if Embiid isn’t ready to go for the 2016-17 season, which is 14 months away, that would be a bad sign. Not this October, but the next October for that season. And he may not even return for the start of that season. The Cameroon native missed the Jayhawks’ final two regular-season games, the Big 12 tournament and two NCAA Tournament games. “At least, that’s what they still hope”.

It’s good news that the surgeon is happy with the structural integrity of Embiid’s foot, but until he actually gets out there and plays, he has “Greg Oden” written all over him. With the No. 3 pick in the 2015 draft, the 76ers selected Duke center Jahlil Okafor.
