New York Mets first baseman Lucas Duda landed on the disabled list on Saturday, a day after he was forced to depart a game against the Colorado Rockies in the seventh inning when his back locked up. The Mets meant to promote Alvarez anyway, so Duda landing on the DL saved a demotion for rookie outfielder Michael Conforto. Mets manager Terry Collins said after the game that they’ll make a decision on his status on Saturday. Duda made one pinch-hit at-bat during that stretch, and returned to the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles and started the last three games.

“It just kind of jammed up again”, Duda said after Friday’s series opener in Colorado.
“I think it’s continuation of the same, it looks like he was still obviously never fully healed, since it reoccurred that quickly”, Ricco said.
