Great debut for Brewers Domingo Santana!

Making his Brewers’ debut, Domingo Santana smacked a two-run homer against the Nationals on Friday. Milwaukee is now 16-12 against teams from the N.L. East – their only winning record against any division in the league. “But my arm feels good, and I feel my location is getting better”.

“First baseman Derek Jeter plays his final homestand at Yankee Stadium”>Adam Lind had two hits and two runs, and starting second baseman Elian Herrera added two hits for the Brewers (53-70) as they battered Washington starter Gio Gonzalez.

“It was a real nice at bat”, said manager Craig Counsell.

Khris Davis, the Milwaukee left fielder, said facing a pennant contender is good motivation. He just couldn’t get out of it. So we had to go to the bullpen again. “None of us like losing”.

“It was just one game”, spouted right-hander Doug Fister. We can’t give them extra [outs].

Jonathan Lucroy had three hits and drove in a run, and rookie Jimmy Nelson (10-9) allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings against Washington to help Milwaukee to its fifth in in seven games.

The Brewers scored nearly every way possible in the seventh.

The next run came on a catcher’s interference call on Washington’s Jose Lobaton.

The Nationals pointed to this run of games in front of their home crowd as a chance to make a move on the Mets in the National League East. Instead they find themselves five games behind New York, the furthest the Nats have been out of first place since May 2.

Kyle Lohse allowed a run in three innings of relief to pick up his first career save.

Trea Turner made his major league debut for Washington when he entered the game at shortstop during a double switch in the top of the seventh.

“I would like to say that you can’t have a bad debut no matter how you play”, Turner said. Turner went 0-for-2, including a game-ending groundout. “The fans have been awesome”. Joe Ross draws Saturday’s start against the Brewers who he will see for the second time.

With Cravy nursing his elbow injury, the Crew is calling on Santana, who, since coming over from the Houston Astros organization, has continued to dominate at AAA Colorado Springs for Milwaukee’s farm team. The Brewers, who banged out 14 hits in the opener, have won five of their past seven games and are 46-13 when scoring four or more runs.

That gave the Brewers a 5-1 lead in the fifth, capping an inning that began when Lucroy’s line-drive single smashed into Gonzalez’s ankle.

Santana strikes out a ton-108 times in 95 games this season, with similar rates throughout his pro career-and that may keep him from consistently posting solid batting averages in the majors, but he has 25-homer power.
