Advocaat happy Defoe on Sunderland scoresheet

For the second successive home game, Cameron Jerome has a date with a former club – and Lou Macari is wary of what that means.

“He never came to me to leave the club or whatever”.

After the first two matches of the 2015-16 Premier League season, Sunderland haven’t done much to inspire confidence among its fans or the media or, as it turns, out the gambling community.

Writing in his programme notes ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Swansea, Short said: “Regarding last Saturday’s match, to answer the question asked of me, yes, I was watching”.

“Some teams maybe are already at the top, but we are not”. But it’s up to us.

Swansea are coming to us in front of our supporters”.

“The last two games are out there, everyone’s seen them, but I think they’ll be risky”, Monk said.

“We’ve done that in two games and it bodes well”. The game features last place Sunderland taking on #6 ranked Swansea City. And then the opponent can not get the kind of space they got at Leicester.

“During the week they had a meeting with only the players, but it’s only positive”.

“If I knew that 90 people had to go because we are going down, then I would go on my bike and not in a Ferrari”. He’s a good guy, a good player. Meanwhile, the Swans were struggling to deal with their physical approach in midfield as Lens and Lee Cattermole were both booked early in the first-half. “We did enough to win the game”.

There were many surprises in the first 45, as Sunderland looked pretty solid at the back with John O’Shea helping to steady things down the middle, which in turn was beneficial for Sebastian Coates alongside him. The 32 year old striker has scored goals wherever he has plied his trade, 230 in total, and will need to draw on such form if his current employer’s fortunes are to be turned around.

“But at the moment, there are players playing who I can’t understand why they are playing that way”. It finished goalless at the Stadium of Light in September and 1-1 at the Liberty Stadium in February.

Monk has brought in numerous new faces since taking the reins from Michael Laudrup, overhauling a squad which had gone a little stale. Everything will get better.

Patrick van Aanholt, who had been much-improved up to that point, was too tight on Andre Ayew in the centre-circle and it gave space for Kyle Naughton to race into. I can not understand it, honestly.
