Marcell Dareus: Not Impressed With Bills Contract Offer

“I just want to be treated right, just like every one of us”. Defensive end Mario Williams is set to make a $12.1 million base salary this season – the fourth of the player’s six-year, $100 million deal.

“They’re making it hard”, Dareus said of the contract negotiations.

Dareus wants to sign a contract extension that keeps him in Buffalo long-term, but he doesn’t exactly feel like the Bills are showing him the love.

Dareus all but admitted that he turned up the intensity a bit on the Bills’ nationally-televised preseason win over Cleveland last night, showcasing his prodigious talents with a dominant first-half display in which he recorded four tackles and a sack.

If Dareus does get the franchise tag, he’ll make somewhere around $12 million next year, and then hit free agency or get the franchise tag again (with a 20 percent raise) in 2017. I feel like they’re saying, “Whatever”. I feel like they don’t want me here…I feel like they don’t want me here as bad as I want to be here, as bad as the fans and my team wants me here.

Pryor, drafted in the third round by the Raiders in 2011, had shown promise early in training camp, but injured his hamstring August 4 and reinjured it Monday in a joint practice against the Bills.

“We’re still waiting”, Dareus told The Buffalo News. When asked if he had a specific number in mind, the two-time Pro Bowler responded, “I’ll just say, ‘Thank you, Suh'”. But you know what in that, obviously that’s his business and that’s his agents and our team and things like that. But the former Alabama star doesn’t have a contract extension two games into the preseason.

Last season, Dareus finished with 10 sacks anchoring the middle of one of the league’s top defensive lines. The one noticeable difference: Suh racked up 222 quarterback pressures in that time, almost 80 more than Dareus, and he did it while playing two fewer games. They’re playing. They’re going back and forth. “I might settle for those numbers, but I’m not sure”. “There’s not really much I can do. I know what I’m worth”.

Dareus is suspended for the first game of the upcoming season as a result of a May 2014 arrest, in which he was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It might have to do with several on and off the field incidents Dareus has gotten involved in his career with the Bills. “If I’m unhappy, I’m unhappy”.
