Planes crash at Swiss air show, at least one dead

At least one person was killed after two small aircraft crashed during a performance at an airshow in Switzerland, police said.

Two of three aircraft flying in formation crashed shortly before 0930 GMT, Basel-Landschaft police said in a statement. He did not have any further information about possible injuries or casualties.

Daniel Fierchter, a spokesman for the Dittingen airshow, said rescue teams had just arrived at the scene. The air show has been cancelled in the wake of the incident, the daily said. The third plane was able to land safely and was not involved in the crash.

The crash comes less than 24 hours after a plane crashed during an air show in Brighton, England, leaving seven dead.
