As expected, Russell Martin wasn’t in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Toronto Blue Jays continued their strong play on Saturday as they clobbered the Angels.
“His consistency and the quality of hit at-bats, no matter how they pitch him it seems like he’s always ready to hit what’s coming – it’s impressive”, said Bautista. He was wrong. He struck out four and walked four.

Heaney walked three in that fourth inning. He has allowed three earned runs in each of his past three starts, none of which lasted less than six innings.
Donaldson’s two-run single and Bautista’s two-run triple off the right-field wall were the big hits.
There are a handful of Toronto Blue Jays players to have reached 100 RBIs faster than Josh Donaldson, but what’s worth considering here is the context around his arrival at the century club for the first time in his career. “We just took a picture with Albert Pujols, Mike Trout, (Kole) Calhoun, all those guys”. Designated hitter C.J. Cron hit his 10th homer of the season, a solo drive over the center-field fence.

Cam Bedrosian, who relieved Heaney in the fourth, did not fare well, either. Dickey is 3-1 with a 4.06 ERA in 25 career appearances (nine starts) against the Angels, including a complete game on May 21 in which he allowed four runs and five hits. The Angels have been outscored by a combined 32-7 in their last three games, dropping them into third place in the AL West and the wild-card standings behind Texas.
They also remained a half-game back of the New York Yankees for the AL East lead. Revere walked on four pitches, Colabello scored, D.Navarro to third, Pillar to second. Right fielder Jose Bautista and first baseman Chris Colabello each had three of the Blue Jays’ 20 hits. But as the pennant races near the end, if Trout or Donaldson are able to get hot and carry their team into the playoffs it will be a big impact on the MVP award.
“Hopefully we’ll get to a few video games and switch the spouse and youngsters into Jays followers”, Moulson stated. “We’re feeling pretty good right now”. “We haven’t pitched well this series, and on the offensive side, we’re still waiting”.
