WWE NXT: Takeover post-event segments, Stephen Amell

Almost 16,000 fans packed the Barclays Center for Takeover a night before SummerSlam, and they (and the thousands watching live on WWE Network) weren’t disappointed with what they saw.

– During last night’s WWE NXT “Takeover: Brooklyn” event, NXT General Manager William Regal announced the “Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic” that will begin in a few weeks. Now on to the matches. Beating Owens for a second time cements that, and it speaks to how much confidence Triple H has in his ability to carry the load. This match should be good because of Joe’s experience and his body of work. The only question is, who comes after his title next? Bálor couldn’t resist hitting a Coup de Grace off of a ladder onto Owens before climbing the ladder once again and snatching the title belt to retain. If Bayley can prove to remain healthy then there is no reason she shouldn’t become the next NXT Women’s champion.

With Owens likely headed to the main roster for good, there’s an open spot for the company’s top heel.

He will be joined by whole host of stars including Samoa Joe, Tyler Breeze, Bayley and Dana Brooke. Jushin Liger is making his NXT debut. While the NYC audience will be familiar with his from his appearances in ROH it will be on such a larger scale. The unpredictability won’t be there, but it’s a great moment and a huge win for Tyler Breeze. Chalk this match up to a replacement for Hideo not being able to complete as clearly this would be a number one contender match. And we’ve got an NXT Women’s Championship match to look forward to. Meanwhile, Breeze will do everything in his power to steal the show. Samoa Joe, to a cascade of “Joe is going to kill you!” chants from the New York crowd, choked out Baron Corbin. Kana adds global flavor to the Divas division and can go – see any of her matches with current WWE trainer Sara “Sara Del Rey” Amato for proof of that. You can argue whether it was, in a technical-sense, the best women’s match we’ve seen lately. If Corbin wins expect the return of Bull Dempsey to bring their rivalry to surface once again. Could Alexa Bliss play a factor in the finish to their title match or will The Vaudevillians have a secret weapon to combat her?

Blake and Murphy dropped the tag straps to The Vaudevillains, whose gimmick – two guys playing the part of early 20 century wrestlers thrust into the heart of the 21 century – is definitely unique. Showbiz, ‘I think engagement and that buy-in at the highest level of the company, where this is not just that little thing we are doing on the side, is really important’.
