Military jet in airshow dives into main road, killing seven

He said the removal of those who died will continue on Sunday and is likely to continue throughout Monday.

Speaking to the press on the evening of the accident, Superintendent Jane Derrick of Sussex Police said: “It is possible that tonight and tomorrow we are going to find more bodies at the scene”.

He added: “Sadly, as a result of our initial work at the site, which has continued overnight, and inquiries following calls to the emergency services from anxious families and friends, we have now identified 11 people who we are treating as highly likely to have died in this tragedy”.

Shoreham Air Show said on Twitter there had been a “major incident” and that emergency services were responding.

The pilot of the plane remains in a critical condition in a Sussex hospital.

Mr Jones’ death was confirmed on social media by his sister Becky Jones, who said: “Thank you to everyone who has messaged me”.

A police spokeswoman said she was unable to comment on the report.

Mr Barry also warned that the death toll could rise further still.
